about

Here, we explore a more emotionally vulnerable side of Lot - the character in the bible best known for suffering the unfathomable tragedy of having his wife turned to a pillar of salt while walking next to him. There's more that goes into this story than I'll relay here...and it only gets more tragic. Look it up. It definitely makes the lyrics more creepy when you do.

lyrics

hold me under - i want to see stars.
not this night sky's memory - but how they really are.
i'd rather suffocate than fail to appreciate your art.

the huddled masses may turn to fascists - they see green pastures across every line.
the huddled masses burn down to ashes or a pillar of salt...
i won't look behind.

eyes on the prize, face toward the light...
God, i miss my wife.

come to me - like a shallow dream.
arms open wide - i'll come inside and cease to breath.
i'd rather suffocate than fail to appreciate your love for me.

the huddled masses may turn to fascists - they see green pastures across every line.
the huddled masses burn down to ashes or a pillar of salt...
i won't look behind.

eyes on the prize, face toward the light...

pour me another glass - let me mourn the past - out here alone.
i feel her in my sleep. she comes and makes love to me.
she takes me home.

how much must one man give 'til you be pleased?
my name will come to die out here with me.

Having always placed the primary importance on lyricism, his songs tend to float effortlessly between genres...each one falling precisely where it needs to in order to most accurately tell the story. And that's all that matters - songs and stories. ... more
