The Good Life and My Bad Side (Live)

from Take It With A Shaker (Live at Logan Street Sanctuary) by Ryan M. Brewer

about

I think the character of Hank Moody and the show "Californication" in general are extremely underrated. Here's my best attempt at what it might sound like if Hank wrote an auto-biographical song.

lyrics

my fingers waltz to the beat of sporadic drumming,
my monsters dance.
you lead this parade along like a seasoned major,
i'm happenstance.

as the city sways to your beat and the streets fill up with marching feet...

i'm wandering lost in sound. i'm wandering lost in sound.

the coast is on my bad side and the good life won't take my calls.
this bottle at my bedside says "God still hates us all."

i'm living proof of man as a broken creature,
you're heaven sent.
when you're gone, i can't spawn or conjure words of reason...
i'm not worth the scotch i spend.

as my body sways to her beat and my doorway fills with your leaving feet...

i'm wandering lost in sound. i'm wandering lost in sound.

the coast is on my bad side and the good life won't take my calls.
this bottle at my bedside says "God still hates us all."

heaven is a getaway car and baby's got the keys.
heaven is a getaway car...

my fingers waltz to the beat of sporadic drumming.
my monsters dance.
